About

Evdokia Savva is a young ceramic designer from Cyprus, who recently graduated from Central Saint Martins with Distinction in MA Design Ceramics.

She has always been fascinated about exploring the notion of form, texture as well as colour. Being interested about her country's crafts, culture and traditions, her aim through her MA project is to sensitively revive and improve the existing ceramics processes that take place in the Cypriot pottery repertoire, whilst still being a reminder of the Cypriot culture. By creating new sophisticated and desirable colour palettes, patterns and forms, her aim is to redesign the Cypriot terracotta tableware and to create a new market for them, locally and internationally.

This is a project that she would like to continue even after the completion of her Masters, since there is a lot of potential to create a positive impact on people's lives by reintroducing cultural value to everyday objects.

"Producing tableware enables potters to develop a particular relationship with other people on physical, sensual and intellectual levels, to get to the heart of people's lives, to connect with the natural world as well as to issues of food, culture and customs"
